1. Gold Coast Theme Parks
Before we get into all the different combo passes that you can get for the theme parks on the Gold Coast, I wanted to give you some brief information on each park and how much it would cost if you wanted to visit just one of them:
- Movie World – One of the most popular parks in Australia, where you’ll get to go on unforgettable rides, meet your favorite movie characters and enjoy some exclusive experiences. A 1-day online pass here costs AU$105 for adults and AU$95 for children.
- Sea World – Get ready to step on some watery grounds at this attraction, where you’ll meet the cutest animals, go on thrilling rides and meet some cartoon characters. The 1-days online pass costs the same AU$155 for adults and AU$155 for children.
- Wet’n’Wild – Who’s ready to spend a fun day at one of the most amazing water parks in Australia? The park offers lots of fun slides and many other things! A 1-day online pass costs AU$145 for adults and AU$130 for children.
2. Different types of passes
There are a few different passes that you can get if you want to visit all 3 theme parks, and in this section, I’ll give you all the information you need on each one.
There are a few factors to consider when buying a pass. From how many days you’re spending on the Gold Coast to other things as well. So, without further ado, let’s find which pass is the best one for you!
The 3-day Pass
If you’re thinking of visiting all 3 attractions in 3 days, then check out this section! I’ve looked on the web and found a few options from where you can buy the pass.
One of the best options would be from GetYourGuide, where you can buy your pass for AU$180. With this pass, you’ll get 3 days of unlimited entry to Warner Bros. Movie World, Sea World & Wet’n’Wild over 5 consecutive days starting from the first visit.
Although the pass is non-refundable, meaning that you won’t get your money back if you cancel, it is valid for 1 year from the date of your purchase.
Alternatively, if this ticket doesn’t resonate with you, or if you really want to have the option of canceling your ticket and recovering your money, then you can buy your pass from Tiqets, which lets you cancel anytime you want as long as it’s at least 24h before your visit, but you’ll have to pay 12% extra from the total price to get this commodity.
This ticket costs the same (AU$180) as the one from GetYourGuide and covers the same parks and 3 days of unlimited entry to the theme parks over 5 consecutive days starting from the first visit. The only difference is the cancellation policy which may be more convenient for some!
You will find the 3-day Escape Pass on the official website as well, which is also valid for 1 year from the date of your purchase, but non-refundable. The ticket costs AU$180.
If you prefer Klook for buying tickets, you can also buy the 3-day pass from there for the same price of AU$180 but non-refundable.
PRICE: AU$180
The 7-day Pass
If you’re spending a lot more time visiting all the attractions on the Gold Coast, then you might consider getting the 7-day pass, which is a bit different from the first one.
NOTE: As you’ll see with all the other 7-day passes for the Gold Coast theme parks, the ones that I’ll mention below include another attraction, Paradise Country, a park where you can experience Australia’s wildlife and meet lots of cute animals!
One of the most convenient places to get your 7-day pass is GetYourGuide, where it costs AU$200! As I mentioned above, this pass includes entry to 4 attractions, Warner Bros. Movie World, Sea World & Wet’n’Wild, and Paradise Country.
Once the pass is validated you’ll get to visit the 4 attractions over 7 consecutive days. What makes this particular pass from GetYourGuide super attractive is the fact that you can cancel anytime you want, as long as it’s at least 24h before your visit, and still get a full refund!
If these tickets are sold out by the time you decide to get yours, you can also head over to Tiqets, which also offers the option to cancel your tickets at least 24h before your visit. However, you’ll have to pay 12% extra for this option.
You’ll get practically the same from buying the Super Pass for AU$200 from the official website: 4 parks entry over 7 consecutive days, valid for 1 year from the date of purchase, but non-refundable.
If the tickets for all of the options above are sold out, or if you would like to have more buying options, then you can also check Klook, where you can get non-refundable tickets for the same price of AU$200.
PRICE: AU$200
The 14-day Pass
Just like the 7-day Pass, this one includes entry to the 4 parks: Warner Bros. Movie World, Sea World & Wet’n’Wild, and Paradise Country.
You can buy your 14-day pass from GetYourGuide for AU$290. This pass is valid for 14 consecutive days from the date of booking. Unfortunately, this pass is non-refundable, but if you are looking for something that gives you more flexibility I might have something for you.
Tiqets is also selling a 14-day pass which offers the same things for the same price of AU$290 for a non-refundable ticket, but you can make it refundable, which will give you 8 days from the date of purchase to cancel your reservation. You’ll have to pay 12% extra from the total price, though.
Buying the Mega Pass on the official website will cost you AU$290, and you can use it for 14 consecutive days. It is valid for 1 year but non-refundable. The same ticket will cost you AU$10 more at the entrance.
If the tickets are sold out on all of these websites, you can also check Klook, where you can get the tickets at the same price (AU$290) and features as on GetYourGuide.
PRICE: AU$290
3. Park Passes – Are they worth it?
Now that we’ve seen all the types of passes that you can get for the Gold Coast theme parks, let’s see if they are actually worth it!
3-day Pass value
We’ll first start with the 3-day pass, which costs AU$180 on average:
Here are the individual prices for each of the 3 attractions:
- Movie World – AU$105
- Sea World – AU$105
- Wet’n’Wild – AU$99
And below you can see all my calculations which show that you’ll save AU$129 when buying the 3-day pass which costs AU$180:
105 + 105 + 99 = 309
You save AU$129 (309 – 180 = 129)
To conclude, the 3-day pass is definitely worth it. If you decide to visit all 3 attractions, or even just 2 of them, you can save up a lot of money.
7-day Pass value
By now, you probably know that the 7-day pass or 14-day pass includes 4 attractions:
- Movie World – AU$105
- Sea World – AU$105
- Wet’n’Wild – AU$105
- Paradise Country – AU$49
Below you can see all my calculations which will show you how much you’ll end up saving if you buy the 7-day pass which costs AU$200:
105 + 105 + 105 + 49 = 364
You save AU$164 (364 – 200 = 164)
As you can see if you were to buy each ticket separately you’d pay much more. With this 7-day pass, even if you visit 3 or 4 attractions you’d pay much less than if you’d buy a ticket for each place.
14-day Pass value
If you’re thinking of buying the 14-day pass, which costs AU$290, you’ll also end up saving some money and I’ll show you below how much.
105 + 105 + 105 + 49 = 364
You save AU$74 (364 – 290 = 74)
It really depends on your program and how much time you’re spending on the Gold Coast, but I’d definitely recommend going for the 7-day pass since it’s much cheaper, and still offers a lot of time to visit the attractions.
4. Buying passes at the entrance (not recommended)
If you are thinking of buying your passes at the entry, you’d buy them from the official source, and as I mentioned in the beginning, they are more expensive, even up to AU$10 more, than all the options that I presented above.
I wouldn’t recommend buying even the single tickets from the gate as they are also more expensive, as are the 3, 7, and 14-day passes.
Practical Information about Gold Coast theme parks
There are some things you’ll need to know before you visit the Gold coast theme parks.
1. How far in advance do you need to buy your passes?
I would recommend buying your passes at least 2 weeks in advance as that will secure you a wide range of options, and you don’t have to pick a certain date just because there is nothing left on the calendar.
2. Opening hours
Check out below all the opening hours for all the theme parks that we’ve talked about today:
- Movie World, SeaWorld, and Wet’n’Wild have the same schedules: from 10 AM to 5 PM (Jan – April)
- Paradise Country is opened from 10 AM to 3:30 PM (Jan – April)
3. How to get to the Gold Coast theme parks
Since the 4 theme parks are spread out throughout the city, I decided to look up all the way in which you can reach each theme park, so let’s have a look:
Warner Bros. Movie World
- By public transport: From Broadbeach North take the GLKN tram to Helensvale where you’ll stop and change for the Coomera Station 725 bus, which you’ll ride to Discovery Dr at Kingaroy Avenue station where you’ll stop and walk for 30 min to the studio (the total travel time takes around 1h and 30 min)
- By car: You can park for free in the Warner Bros. Movie World parking lot
SeaWorld
- By public transport: From the Surf Pde at Broadbeach Mall station take the 705 Sea World bus which will leave you just an 8 min walk away from the entrance (the total travel time is around 35 min)
- By car: You can park for free at the SeaWorld parking lot
Wet’n’Wild
- By public transport: From Broadbeach North station take the GLKN tram to Helensvale where you’ll stop and change for the TX7 Coomera Station bus that will leave you outside the water park entrance
- By car: You can park for free at the Wet’n’Wild parking lot
Paradise Country
- By public transport: From Broadbeach North station take the GLKN tram to Helensvale where you’ll stop and change for the TX7 Coomera Station bus that will leave you at Movie World and from there you’ll walk 20 min to Paradise Country
- By car: You can park for free at the Paradise Country
TIP: Since traveling by car is the best and the fastest option, and there is free parking at the theme parks, I definitely recommend going by car, even if that means rental car.
4. Download the app and plan your route
Since you’ve got around 3 or 4 attractions to visit which are pretty big and come with lots of shows, rides, and things to see, I’d recommend downloading the Village Roadshow Theme Parks app from Google Play or AppleStore.
I’d recommend getting the app before your visit to add your tickets or passes there. The app also has maps, opening hours, times for shows, and even how much time you have to wait in the queue for each ride.
PRO TIP: Think ahead about how you want to structure your days and which activity you’d like to check out the most, and maybe put that one as your first.
NOTE: Make sure you call the parks before you visit because some rides may be closed down due to bad weather or other reasons, and you don’t want to miss out! So, it’s better to check first!
